Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession as she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
