THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the legal realm as she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's need.
